OVERVIEW
SKOPJE CREATIVE HUB (SCH2014) is a 10 day long creative festival which focuses on developing interventions that promote alternative use of public space. SCH2014 has paired international and local young creative professionals to run workshops together with groups of students. The invited thinkers, activists and theorists will provide a critical discourse on city space through series of public discussions. SCH2014 is intended to grow into a network of creative professionals and a reservoir of fresh ideas on urbanity with a shared knowledge database. SCH2014 is a platform where young creative minds meet>collaborate>create>act.
Our work will focus on generating practical, and impactful answers to the pressing questions:
What can we learn from Skopje’s urban peculiarities?
What can we offer as young creatives?

WHY SKOPJE ?
We strongly believe that there is a vast creative potential in the city from which both the citizens and the international participants of the SCH2014 will benefit. There is a lot of untapped creativity in the arts and culture sectors, especially among diverse creative disciplines: young and established! Our international experience is mainly on initiatives in public spaces and we believe that Skopje is in dire need of such actions that promote alternative use and citizen participation.
An international group of creative minds will bring fresh ideas and activate the public space in cooperation with the local citizens of Skopje. After the devastating earthquake of 1963, the United Nations sponsored and mediated the rebuilding process of Skopje, which became a small U.N. on its own right. The most influential creative minds of that time like Kenzo Tange, Arata Isozaki, Constantinos Doxiadis, Van der Broek and Bakema etc. were drawing and building the future blueprint of the city. Skopje became a melting pot of ideas and this fact is now by-large forgotten. Why did this happen?
We would like to work together on reigniting this idea and vision for the city; together with the city and its people. The Hub will host the most relevant architects, designers, artists, photographers, thinkers, activists and academics. The Skopje Creative Hub will re-establish Skopje as a capital of creativity.
